- The mission, outlined by the Municipal Directorate of Culture, is to provide methodological advice to art instructors, promoters and technicians of cultural institutions in order to raise their professionalism and encourage the population to strengthen their identity values and prepare them, through their participation, to increase their appreciation of the arts and raise awareness of the defence of cultural heritage.
Culture House
Jesus Aviles Urbino. Holguinero, descendant of a family of musicians, dedicated part of his life to the fight against the Spaniards who ruled at the time. In his free time he studied music. He was a member of the Band of Music of the Liberating Army and during the invasion from East to West he was appointed Director of the Invasion Band; together with Manuel Dositeo Aguilera he composed the Invasion Hymn. He ended the war with the rank of captain.

Onelio Jorge Cardoso" Public Library
The Public Library was founded on February 9, 1983; it is located at calle Patricio Lumumba #45 Buenaventura 82600 Holguín and telephone: 24357135. It provides services in the hall and in the circulation area, telephone consultations and reference, university extension and activities aimed at promoting the habit of reading.
It aims to meet the information and cultural needs of users, create reading habits and raise the overall culture in the community.
Onelio Jorge Cardoso, born in Calabazar de Sagua in 1914, died in Havana in 1986. A prolific writer, he published numerous books of short stories. His work has been translated into different languages.
There is a branch library in the Popular Council of Mir.
Municipal Museum
The institution offers services of visits to the permanent exhibition rooms, conferences, talks, activities of socio-cultural animation within the institution and in the communities, attention to circles of interest, creation groups, courses, scientific services of the archive researches.
The social task is to rescue, preserve, research and exhibit the heritage of the town.

There is also the Museum IV "Simon Bolivar" Front in the Popular Council of Mir that together with the monument pays tribute to the revolutionary work of the Fourth Simon Bolivar Front organized on November 4, 1958.
Cinema "Moscow"
Founded on June 24, 1980, it provides 35mm film and video projection and exhibition services, as well as multiple services such as a room for cultural shows, a meeting room and a venue for cultural, social and political events.

Armando Gómez Peña" Art Gallery
Founded on December 15, 2010. Its fundamental activity is to promote and enrich the plastic arts throughout the territory in order to awaken the inclination towards this manifestation, watching over the care and conservation of the works of art.
Armando Gómez Peña, Painter and restorer of works of art: He was born in San Agustín de Aguarás in 1941. Graduated from the Professional School of Plastic Arts in Holguin in 1968. Founder of the City's Engraving Workshop and the Hermanos Saíz Brigade. He worked as a museologist restorer of the Provincial Museum La Periquera. Member of the UNEAC and one of the main figures of the Plastic Arts of the province in the 70s. He has been working for several years in the restoration of the capital works of the great muralists of Mexico
Bookstore "Margarita Blanca"
Founded on March 8, 1980, it provides book sales, presentations and promotions, talks, lectures, round tables, book exhibitions, as well as outreach activities in student, health, work and community centers.

We offer sale of books, cassettes and other products as well as sales extensions and book presentations. Extension activities reach out to student, health, work and community centers with offers of book presentations, talks, lectures, round tables, book expositions, as well as book sales in fixed spaces.

Organ Festival "Pepe Ajo"
Event to be held from 19 to 21 October, which is carried out to perpetuate in some way the most deeply rooted tradition of the territory. (Organ music). This Festival is pleased to invite all the arrangers of the Republic of Cuba to participate in the "Ernestino Cuayo" arrangers' contest, which is aimed at recognizing the work of those who knew how to assume the flattening of the Oriental organ as one of the most interesting processes within the great spectrum of Cuban music. Those interested in participating in this contest must present their arrangements for organ within the celebration of our Festival.
Calixteña Culture Day
The Day of Culture is the most important event in the municipality Calixto Garcia and is held to commemorate the establishment of the Municipal Council of Culture in Buenaventura on March 15, 1965 as a greeting to the IX World Festival of Youth and Students. The population participates in the various activities such as the opening parade, opening and closing gala, meeting of personalities, book fair and presentation of professional and amateur talent.
Mireña Culture Day
Festival to be held from 31 March to 3 April, commemorating the attack on the Mir barracks, where the best of the territory's traditions are on display, allowing the revival of cultural moments and actions. Thousands of inhabitants participate in the different activities such as the inaugural parade, the opening and closing gala, the meeting of personalities, the book fair and the presentation of professional and amateur talent.
Traditional Bachatas of the Mantecas
It is held as a way to revitalize the traditions of the municipality and specifically of the town of Las Mantecas, where it is deeply rooted in the people, is celebrated on June 24 for the Day of St. John, in which there are tape runs, sale of groceries accompanied by organ and peasant music
Blancolvido" Poetry Day
The "Blancolvido" Poetry Day, framed on November 7th, is celebrated in homage to the birth of Emilio Ballagas Cubeñas, a poet who lived in our town for some time and whose name the Literary Workshop of our municipality bears. Young people under 35 years of age who live in the municipality are invited to attend. The literary prize "Blancolvido" of poetry is awarded.
